On Thursday, November 19, our Chief Financial Officer Harry Soose, Jr., received the Pittsburgh Business Times 2020 CFO of the Year Career Achievement Award. The virtual awards event was the culmination of a week’s worth of highlights by the Business Times, including a feature photo on the cover of the paper and the CFO of the Year awards section in the print and online editions, as well as articles in their e-newsletters and posts on their social media channels. It was wonderful to see Harry all over Pittsburgh!

Harry was notified of his recognition in October, having received several nominations from various sources for the Career Achievement Award. Soon after, the Business Times came to CEC to interview Harry for a profile story and to capture photos. To read Harry’s profile story in the Business Times, click here.

During the awards event, several people, including our CEO Ken Miller, spoke via video about Harry and his many admirable qualities. You can also see Harry responding to the question “What advice would you give your 16-year-old self” at the 33:24 mark. In the segment, Harry reflects on how his life would have been quite different were it not for the education he received. For Harry, education is seen as the key to opening the doors of opportunity. This is a primary reason why he is so committed to his work as chairman of the board for the Homeless Children’s Education Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the educational needs of children experiencing homelessness in Allegheny County.

After joining our firm in 2007, Harry worked hard to spearhead initiatives to institute proper financial systems and to reduce debt—earning him a Pittsburgh Business Times CFO of the Year Award in 2009.  Harry’s reputation as a consummate financial executive extends beyond the walls of CEC. In 2019, he was selected as one of five recipients of a 2019 Financial Executive of the Year Award by Financial Executives International (FEI), having been nominated by fellow financial executives in the Pittsburgh chapter.

Harry is well-respected by all who know him. Thank you, Harry, for all you do every day for our company. We congratulate you on this success and on your many impressive accomplishments.
