Craig Rockey and Jackie Rockey of CEC Pittsburgh were part of a team that recently had a paper published in the Journal of Fish and Wildlife Management. The paper, “Exceptional Longevity in Little Brown Bats Still Occurs, despite Presence of White-Nose Syndrome,” explains that little brown bats (Myotis lucifugus) may live long lives even after having prolonged exposure to white-nose syndrome, a fungal disease that has reduced the hibernating populations by 90% across much of eastern North America since 2007.
