It is with great pleasure that we announce the promotion of Dustin J. Kuhlman, P.E., to the position of Chief Executive Officer. Dustin, who has been with our firm since 2006, becomes CEC’s first Chief Executive Officer who is not one of the original four founders. The announcement marks a significant milestone in our firm’s history and the execution of the founders’ plan for the firm’s leadership to remain in the hands of its more than 600 employee-owners.
Drawing from his more than 25 years of experience, Dustin will be responsible for leading CEC’s overall operations, including overseeing corporate functions and strategic planning initiatives. He takes over for Ken Miller, P.E., who has held the position since 2010. Ken will continue to be engaged with the leadership of the company, maintaining his roles as President and Chairman of the Board of Directors until a yet-to-be-determined date in the future.
“Dustin will ensure our vision for CEC is carried into the future,” said Ken. “Throughout his tenure with CEC, Dustin has made significant contributions to our firm and consistently demonstrated to all four founders, and to the company as a whole, his ability to put our clients and employees at the forefront of our decisions.”

During his 15 years with CEC, Dustin has held numerous leadership positions, including serving as civil engineering practice lead in the Pittsburgh office, corporate Oil & Gas Market Group lead, office lead for Pittsburgh, and vice president – operations for the firm’s Athens, Bridgeport, Chicago, Kansas City, New York, and St. Louis offices. He currently serves on the firm’s Board of Directors.
