Mary McConnell, P.E., brings 30 years of experience as she joins CEC Cincinnati as a Principal in the Civil/Site Practice.
Mary spent 15 years in transportation infrastructure and 15 years in civil site design and leadership. She traveled for 10 years TDY as a GeoPak expert, providing horizontal and vertical solutions for highways and interchanges. After moving to Cincinnati, she performed alignment design and analyzed impacts for the Brent Spence Bridge D/FEIS, completed the Waldvogel Viaduct and Railroad relocation, and helped set the alignment for the Cincinnati Streetcar.
Local civil perspective was gained through team leadership and institutional site design projects such as schools, VAs, and municipal works. As a director, she focused on team oversight, QA/QC, and client satisfaction. Global diverse DoD project experience is mixed with municipal, commercial/industrial, private, infrastructure, and A/MEP/I inclusive projects that she will forever be proud to be the engineer of record, such as:
- Cincinnati Bengals Practice Facility (the dome)
- Freestore Foodbank Facility
- Clearcreek and Monroe Police facilities
- Pro-bono development of the Lebanon school Kings Mills EduScape outdoor classroom
Mary specializes in coaching /training young engineers, scopes and budgets that win work, client relationships, planning and zoning, variance, permitting, QA/QC technical plan reviews, SWPPP, due diligence, and specifications.
A Michigan State graduate, she holds licensures in six states, five of which are active; is a Qualified Preparer of SWPPP (QPSWPPP), and a Qualified SWPPP Inspector. Mary is the mother of two teenagers and resides in Wyoming, Ohio.
