James I. Smith, P.E. brings more than 24 years of experience as he joins CEC’s Knoxville office as a Principal in our Civil/Site practice.
He has broad-based site development and project management experience for governmental, industrial, residential, educational, and commercial clients. He is experienced in many aspects of land development, including hydrology and hydraulics, grading and earthwork analysis, roadway and subdivision designs, water distribution and sanitary sewer design, erosion and sedimentation control, permitting, and construction administration. Project stormwater management designs have included wet ponds, dry ponds, underground detention systems, and infiltration basins.
James is able to draw from his years of experience to develop practical, team-focused solutions with the ultimate goal of delivering each project on time and within budget.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Kansas State University and holds a Professional Engineer license in Tennessee. James is a member of the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers.
