ETC: In-situ Remediation 102: Design and Implementation

You’ll learn a bit more in this 102-level course that builds on our previous 101-level course by exploring best practices for designing and implementing in-situ remediation techniques. This course will feature two specific sections and culminate in a “fireside chat” where attendees can get engaged and ask questions about topics ranging from field horror stories to success stories to anything in between.

Andy Kavanagh, L.P.G., P.G.
Mr. Kavanagh has led and supported numerous projects involving the investigation and remediation of sites impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, and emerging contaminants such as PFAS and 1,4-dioxane. His experience includes the design and implementation of remedial systems, evaluation of remedial alternatives, and preparation of technical documents including work plans, feasibility studies, and regulatory submittals.
He has a strong background in hydrogeologic conceptual site model (CSM) development, aquifer testing, groundwater flow and contaminant transport evaluation, and data interpretation. Mr. Kavanagh routinely collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to integrate geology, engineering, and regulatory strategy into effective site management approaches.
In addition to his technical work, Mr. Kavanagh has experience interfacing with regulatory agencies and stakeholders, supporting project approvals, and guiding remediation strategies through closure. His work emphasizes defensible scientific analysis, clear communication, and implementation of sustainable remediation practices.
Mr. Kavanagh holds a degree in geology and maintains professional licensure in good standing.
