Bio
Ms. Smith has eight years of archaeological experience. Five of those years, she served as an archaeologist in the Midwest, primarily Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Illinois. She has gained extensive experience conducting visual inspections, surface collection surveys, shovel testing surveys, and feature excavations. Her lab experience includes artifact cataloguing, creation of artifact databases, artifact analysis, and the creation of finding aids. She has worked with GPS and total stations. She has aided in topographical, historical, and GPR map interpretation. She has completed historical record checks, project review forms, site reports, and survey reports. Ms. Smith worked as primary investigator for 6 years at the Obraje de Chincheros site in Ayacucho, Peru. As PI, she led teams of archaeologists, organized artifact analysis, wrote permit applications, and has presented her findings in peer-reviewed publications and at professional conferences.
