Bio
Michael brings more than 40 years of experience to CEC, where he is the Waste Management practice lead. He brings a wide range of skills and knowledge in waste management, and earlier in his career, he was a practicing geotechnical engineer. His broad-based experience includes landfill siting, permitting, design, construction and closure. He has led efforts to vertically and laterally expand landfills, demonstrate alternative liner systems and final cover adequacy, permit and complete landfill clean closure projects, and permit and design compost facilities.
Michael’s experience prior to focusing on waste management includes a wide array of civil infrastructure projects including earth dams; tunnels; retained earth structures; storage tanks; low-, mid-, and high-rise buildings; bridges; and highways. A registered Professional Engineer in California with a Master of Science in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, Michael also worked for an international specialty geotechnical contractor who specializes in in-situ site improvement techniques for poor ground condition sites.
