The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (Pittsburgh, Pa.) published a follow-up story on mine subsidence following the death of woman who fell into a mine in Westmoreland County, Pa. Doug Clark, a geotechnical engineer and Principal at CEC, explains “mine subsidence is usually pretty abrupt, not slow like soil settlement.”
