The Courier (Findlay, Ohio) reports cleanup work along the Blanchard River has been completed, clearing the way for the next phase of river benching to begin.
In a letter dated May 20, Matt Cordonnier, director of the Hancock Regional Planning Commission, said contaminated soil and other industrial materials have been removed from the corridor so that benching work can begin. The benches will be built along the north side of the river, from the Main Street bridge to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway overpass at East Main Cross Street.
The Hancock County Board of Commissioners contracted with Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc., Toledo, to perform the remediation work.
