Botanical Services

CEC’s ecological staff along with state- and U.S. Fish & Wildlife-approved botanists combine resources and knowledge to offer a wide range of botanical services that assist clients with endangered and threatened species issues.

CEC conducts surveys for a wide variety of species including northeastern bulrush, running buffalo clover, prairie fringed orchid, Mead’s milkweed, lesser whorled pagonia, and Virginia spirea in support of land development projects; natural gas, petroleum, water and wastewater pipeline expansion and replacement projects; electric power transmission projects; and mining projects.

CEC’s botanical specialists create project-and species-specific sampling and survey plans based on agency consultation prior to field work. Detailed field observations and scientific methodology allow CEC to create reports that include possible management or mitigation options and conservation recommendations, when necessary.

All rare plant surveys are conducted in strict compliance with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service or individual state survey protocols.
