A few employees from our CEC Austin office recently volunteered with Operation Turkey and gave out around 3,000 plates of food on Thanksgiving. Operation Turkey is a 100% volunteer organization whose goal is to bring “communities together across the nation [and] to feed and clothe the homeless and less fortunate on Thanksgiving Day.”
In 2019, they delivered more than 62,000 meals in 22 cities and seven states. Volunteers prepare, package, and deliver warm meals, care packages, and clothing donations every Thanksgiving. There is something for everyone to do from cooking and cleaning to delivering, packaging, or plating. Even younger ones get to do their part by decorating the clamshell containers used to distribute food.
According to Adam Mehevec, a principal in CEC’s waste management practice, the Austin location had about 200-300 volunteers in attendance. To volunteer next year at a location near you, click here.
