CEC Pittsburgh is excited to welcome Bill Almes, P.E., to the team as a Senior Principal in our Waste Management practice. Bill brings more than 31 years of experience as a consulting engineer specializing in civil, environmental, and geotechnical engineering. His experience includes work in the Mining, Power, and Solid Waste industries. Bill will be responsible for supporting CEC’s solid waste and power clients across the U.S., specializing in the Southeast and Midwest.
Before joining CEC, Bill served in an operations capacity as Vice President for an international consulting firm and the Director of Remediation and Construction Services for a national waste management company. A majority of his project management experience was focused on municipal solid waste and industrial waste management facilities, renewable energy, coal combustion residuals (CCR) landfills and impoundments, and coal refuse disposal facilities. These types of projects required state, local, and federal permitting, facility design, geo-environmental investigations, construction quality assurance, and certification services. He has also provided engineering support to several large energy companies for oil and gas exploration and pipelines and renewable power generation projects.
Bill has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in geotechnical engineering from West Virginia University. He is a licensed professional engineer in North and South Carolina. He has been active in several trade organizations and professional engineering societies during his career and is now a member of the West Virginia University Civil and Environmental Engineering Advisory Committee.
