CEC Greenville’s Christian Alonso recently participated in the Ride to End ALZ South Carolina fundraising event. Ride to End ALZ South Carolina is a 255-mile-long cycling course starting in upstate South Carolina with riders finishing the course on the Charleston coast. The 3-day group ride helped fund cutting-edge research targeted to change the trajectory of Alzheimer’s disease.
The event met the chapter’s goal of $1,250,000, the most money raised by the chapter for the annual event. Ride to End ALZ South Carolina started 15 years ago where 20 riders raised $15,000. This year there were over 500 riders. Christian Alonso and his father-in-law, George Finly, raced across the state for a cure to this terrible disease. They rode in honor of George’s mother, Rebecca Finly. Christian also rode in honor of Brian Souva’s father, John, who also suffered from Alzheimer’s. This was their third year participating in this event.
