CEC Monroeville welcomes Tim Miller. P.E. as a Principal in our Solid Waste Practice. He has been involved in geotechnical engineering and project management for over 22 years, spending the first 12 years of his career at CEC and the 10 most recent years in a project management role in the oil and gas industry.

Tim managed a variety of complex capital and maintenance projects for a midstream natural gas company. He served as the primary manager and contact person with consulting engineering firms, contractors, and vendors on assigned projects of varying scopes and dollar value. These responsibilities included safety metrics, schedule, budget, and quality of the project outcome and deliverables. Tim also managed field support personnel, project engineers, inspectors, document control representatives, and administrative team members.

Notable project experience includes:

  • permitting and construction along a 3-mile stretch of a new high voltage (138 kV) power line through mountainous terrain in West Virginia
  • construction of a new substation and breaker station in West Virginia
  • construction of a 200-million-cubic-feet-per-day cryogenic gas processing plant
  • earthwork project with 3.7 million cubic yards of soil and rock
  • permitting and site development of a previously strip-mined property to support the development of future processing plants
  • evaluation and repair of a large, failing soldier pile and lagging retaining wall
  • pipeline right-of-way landslide repair

After a decade in the industry, Tim is excited to return to the consulting industry with CEC and contribute to the continued growth and improvement of CEC’s Solid Waste Practice. “I always said if I was to return to a consulting firm it would have to be CEC. I am thrilled to be back and work with some familiar faces in the Solid Waste Practice.”

During his previous tenure with CEC, Tim performed geotechnical engineering services for commercial, industrial, and landfill clients. He also designed retaining walls, landslide repairs, and deep foundation systems. He managed geotechnical projects as well as multi-discipline projects with other services (survey, environmental, ecological, etc.)

Tim earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University and a Master of Science in civil engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a Professional Engineer licensed in Pennsylvania and West Virginia and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
