Jai Sondhe has joined CEC as a Survey+Geospatial Principal in our Indianapolis office, bringing with him more than 25 years of experience in construction surveying and construction services management.
Jai has built his career delivering high-quality surveying and construction support services across a wide range of project types, including industrial, commercial, residential, and public-sector developments. He began his career in the field, spending 17 years as a crew chief, where he developed a strong foundation in construction staking, layout, and problem-solving under real-world jobsite conditions. He later transitioned into leadership roles, serving as a Construction Services Manager and Project Manager, where he successfully guided projects from initial proposal through final closeout.
Throughout his career, Jai has been recognized for his ability to manage complex projects while maintaining strong client relationships and tight schedules. His experience includes managing field crews, coordinating multi-discipline teams, reviewing contracts, overseeing project accounting, supporting business development, and providing responsive solutions to both field and design challenges.
His notable project experience includes several high-profile developments throughout Indiana, such as the Indiana Convention Center and Hotel in downtown Indianapolis, the Eli Lilly manufacturing facility in Lebanon, the Walmart Mt. Comfort e-commerce distribution center, and the FedEx Airport Expansion at Indianapolis International Airport. Across these projects, he worked closely with owners, contractors, and engineers to provide accurate layout, as-built surveys, and verification services — often navigating constantly evolving plans and tight construction timelines.
He studied civil/survey engineering at Purdue University and brings deep technical knowledge combined with a practical, solutions-oriented approach to project delivery.
In his role at CEC, Jai will support the continued growth of our construction surveying and construction services practice in central Indiana, helping clients move projects forward efficiently while upholding CEC’s commitment to quality, accuracy, and client service.

CEC Indianapolis was established in 1998. We currently provide services in civil engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, ecological sciences, cultural resources, and environmental engineering. We’re most active in the real estate, oil and gas, power, and public sector markets. Our civil engineering and surveying practices have a wide range of expertise completing work on numerous mixed-use, residential, commercial, educational, industrial, and institutional projects. Our ecological group provides endangered bat surveying services throughout the United States. We’re also growing our already-strong cultural resources group that provides archaeological investigations, National Register of Historic Places eligibility determinations, archival research, and more throughout the Midwest. We are continuing to expand our environmental capacity and expertise. In 2022, that growth continued as Hamilton Designs joined CEC. We are able to provide our clients more expertise, more resources, and more capacity to continue to serve our expanding client base.
