Milestones offer an opportunity to reflect on the past, celebrate accomplishments, and look ahead to the future. As CEC’s Monroeville office marks its 25th anniversary, our team chose to commemorate the occasion in a way that reflects one of our core values: giving back to the communities we serve.
To celebrate the milestone, employees spent an afternoon volunteering with Our Giving Kitchen, a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit dedicated to addressing food insecurity through volunteer-powered meal preparation and distribution. The organization brings together people from all backgrounds to prepare fresh, nutritious meals that are delivered to individuals and families in need through a network of community partners across the region.
“As we reflected on our milestone of 25 years , it felt fitting to celebrate by serving others,” said Jason Fronczek, Vice President and Monroeville Office Lead. “This event brought our team together in a meaningful way and reinforced the importance of investing in the communities that have supported us throughout our history.”
Working side by side in the kitchen, CEC employees chopped vegetables and chicken, prepared chocolate chip cookies for baking, and portioned and packed chicken fajita meals for local families. By the end of the afternoon, the team had helped prepare more than 130 meals and 150 cookies, contributing to Our Giving Kitchen’s mission of ensuring that more neighbors have access to wholesome, homemade food.
The Monroeville Social Committee coordinated the anniversary volunteer experience.
“When Jason shared the idea of celebrating our 25th anniversary through community service, the Social Committee was excited to help bring that vision to life,” said Angela Diven, Administrative Assistant and Social Committee member. “Working with Our Giving Kitchen allowed us to create an event that was meaningful, engaging, and aligned with the values that have guided our office over the years.”
What makes Our Giving Kitchen unique is its emphasis on both impact and connection. Volunteers play a central role in preparing meals from scratch using fresh ingredients while also building relationships and strengthening community ties through service. The organization believes in the ripple effect that acts of giving can create, fostering a sense of purpose that extends far beyond a single volunteer event.
For the Monroeville team, the afternoon served as a meaningful reminder that our success has always been closely tied to the communities where we live and work.
That sense of connection was evident throughout the day as employees worked together toward a common goal.
“One of the best parts of the day was working alongside colleagues from across the office,” said Amanda Black, Vice President, Corporate Power Market Lead, and Monroeville Air Quality Practice Lead. “We were able to give back, have fun together, and support a great organization all at the same time.”
While this milestone anniversary was a chance to reflect on on past accomplishments that have served as the foundation of our success, this celebration was also an opportunity to make a positive impact in the present. As CEC Monroeville enters its next chapter, we remain committed to supporting organizations that strengthen our communities and improve the lives of our neighbors.
