You’ll leave your course with timely know-how and takeaways to tackle challenging regulations and requirements. You’ll also earn Continuing Education Units.

*NEW* Endangered Species Act Compliance

You’ll learn how the Endangered Species Act (ESA) is implemented, the criteria that are used to protect species, and the number and distribution of protected species. We will explain what is considered “take” and how project components can get authorized (Federal Agency Consultations) or permitted (Habitat Conservation Plans) to “take” a listed species. The course will also present information on similar state laws and provide an overview of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

*NEW* Air Compliance Challenges

You’ll learn how to manage the ongoing compliance responsibilities of your air permit once it is issued. Topics to be discussed from the perspective of the many industries CEC serves will include monitoring, performance testing, recordkeeping, and reporting. Practical aids to help you understand complex and evolving air quality regulations will also be discussed.

Air Permitting Basics

You’ll learn basic federal and state air permitting requirements for major and minor construction permits and major and minor operating permits.  We explain how the Clean Air Act is structured and walk through the federal requirements that are implemented through most state programs. We discuss what triggers the need for air permits and how to obtain authorizations to build, modify, and operate sources and in attainment and nonattainment areas.

Clean Water Act and NPDES Overview

You’ll learn the basics of water regulations, including National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) plans; Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP); and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans. We cover regulations at the federal and the state level.

Introduction to Environmental Regulations

You’ll learn about compliance with permits and applicable regulations (air, water, and waste). New environmental managers, plant managers, and operations managers, this course is for you!

Maintaining Compliance for the Natural Gas Industry

You’ll learn the importance of obtaining various permits for production and midstream facilities. This course will break down the myriad and often confusing monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements during construction, operation, or permit close-out for well pads or facilities such as compressor stations, interconnects, and metering sites.

Introduction to OSHA Regulatory Requirements

You’ll learn basic Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulatory requirements for safe work practices, employee training, chemical exposure and monitoring, chemical right-to-know labeling (for hazard communication), and ergonomic issues. This course will also highlight interactions with OSHA for both inspections and compliance.

Introduction to RCRA Regulations

You’ll learn about hazardous and non-hazardous waste regulations. Waste generators, this course is for you! We concentrate on compliance, Part B permit requirements, and how to avoid “major source generator” status.
