Members of the CEC iDEA steering committee from CEC Pittsburgh recently worked with Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh (RTP) to help revamp Cuddy’s, a soul food staple in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood.
The restoration project included a facelift of the building’s interior and exterior, the addition of fencing, and building a revamped outdoor seating area with a shade overhang, planters, and flowers.
RTP helped set the project in motion with the goal of helping a Black-owned business in Pittsburgh in the week leading up to Juneteenth, the holiday celebrating the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans in the United States. RTP took donations and pulled together resources from the community to help fund the project and provide the necessary tools and supplies.
RTP has helped transform the lives of low-income homeowners in marginalized areas of Allegheny County for 27 years, with more than 2,700 rebuild projects in that time. CEC is proud to have established a relationship with RTP and looks forward to working with them in the future.
