CEC Vice President Dustin Kuhlman and CEC Pittsburgh Office Lead Dan Maltese competed in the 24th annual Rachel Carson Trail Challenge in the Pittsburgh area. It was the third time they have completed this event together.
Each year, the trail challenge is held on the Saturday closest to the summer solstice, to take advantage of the daylight on the longest day of the year. The 35-mile hike this year began in Harrison Hills Park in northeastern Allegheny County and finished in North Park in north-central Allegheny County. The challenge began at 5:30 a.m. and had to be completed in 15 hours, 4 minutes, or by 8:54 p.m.
Dustin completed the challenge in 9 hours, 56 minutes, 50 seconds. Dan finished in 13 hours, 53 minutes, 41 seconds. We congratulate them on their incredible endurance and accomplishment.
