Ben Arata joins CEC San Diego as a Principal in our Waste Management practice. Ben has over 21 years of experience in the solid waste management industry, responsible for multiple capital and expense projects for landfills, transfer stations, and hauling companies.

In his previous role, Ben worked on various solid waste design and permitting projects. Core project elements included subgrade preparation, liner system design, leachate collection and conveyance system design, stormwater management, landfill capping systems, low maintenance permanent stabilization, and design of stormwater conveyance and control systems. Ben also has a background in building engineering teams to permit and develop sites while addressing environmental, structural, and civil engineering site concerns.

Ben has a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering from Roger Williams University and is a member of the Solid Waste Association of North America Beaver Chapter

Established in 2021, CEC’s San Diego office extended our company’s footprint to the West Coast. Office Lead Darrell Thompson, a solid waste engineer specializing in landfill gas operations and maintenance, has 28 years of experience, 24 of which have been focused on helping clients in California. Darrell and his team are actively building CEC’s presence in Sacramento as well. Together, the team will utilize their relationships in California to help CEC grow while establishing relationships with our existing clients from this new base.
