Last month team members from our Charlotte office volunteered with Junior Achievement (JA) of Central Carolinas. JA is an educational nonprofit, working with educators, investors and volunteers to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.
CEC Charlotte assisted staff at JA in facilitating JA BizTown. The students participated in a simulated economy – including running their own businesses, receiving paychecks, making bank transactions, spending their paychecks and forming a community. There were approximately 72 middle school students that participated in JA BizTown that included two town hall meetings run by the Town Mayor (one of the students). At the end of the day, at the final town hall, each business’ CEO gave a report on their business profitability and thanked their staff and volunteers for their support.
