’Tis the Season: Round-Up of Holiday Parties and Charitable Activities From Across the CEC Footprint

December 23, 2021
Every holiday season, our team members around the country have a blast during their various festivities, but, at the same time, our team is always seeking out new options for helping others. Below are some of the awesome ways our offices celebrated this year while also taking time to lend a helping hand:
  • Athens collected items for three different organizations this year: The Children’s House/Child Advocacy Center, Endless Mountains Pregnancy Resources Center, and the Bradford County Humane Society.
  • Austin has decided to adopt a family this holiday season as part of the Austin Police Operation Blue Santa Program. Additionally, a few employees volunteered with Operation Turkey and gave out around 3,000 plates of food on Thanksgiving.
  • Boston partnered with Essential Power’s Newington facility to contribute toward their annual donation to the nonprofit organization Gather. Thanks to help from our team members, Essential Power’s contributions totaled more than $7,000 and 11 35-gallon totes of nonperishable food. The entire team also celebrated in a holiday party held at the office.
  • Charlotte threw a great holiday party with plenty of food and drinks to be enjoyed by all.
  • Chicago sponsored and decorated a company tree at the Brookfield Zoo with all handmade ornaments. This event helps raise money for the zoo and is a tradition the office has done for the past five years. They also held a food drive to support Loaves & Fishes, the local food bank. They donated 190 pounds of nonperishable food items.
  • Cincinnati collected items for the Salvation Army Adopt-a-Family program. They also partnered with Community Matters to give food and a cash donation to the Freestore Foodbank.
  • Columbus held their holiday party with games, presents for employees, and several contests, including the Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest, Ugly Ornament Contest, and Meme Contest. They also participated in a toy drive for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The drive will benefit patients and families in need.
  • Indianapolis collected clothing and nonperishable food items for the Wheeler Mission, which helps the homeless. CEC’s Indianapolis office is located just one block away from the organization’s homeless shelter for men.
  • Monroeville participated in a food pantry/item drive for Westmoreland County Food Bank, as well as took part in the 50/50 College Bowl Contest with half the entry money donated to a charity chosen by the winner.
  • Nashville’s Christine Guy-Baker gave a presentation on the importance of erosion and otter habitats to second graders at Overall Creek Elementary. This office also provided gifts for four children from Adopt-a-Child Robertson County. They raised more than $900. Team members also celebrated their Christmas party on the General Jackson Showboat. The team cruised by downtown Nashville and had a night filled with food and fun.
  • Oklahoma City brought in items from the Woven Life needs list. Woven Life is an intergenerational learning and care center.
  • Phoenix’s Tom Meeks attended the Arizona Diamondbacks Boys & Girls Club holiday party to help pass out toys to the children. The office is also partnering with Feed My Starving Children and will be packaging meals to help fight world hunger. They celebrated the holidays with an office party at Top Golf. The entire office staff attended and a great time was had by all.
  • Pittsburgh provided gifts from the wish lists of 80 local children through the Allegheny County Department of Human Services and delivered wish list and personal care items to the Veterans Administration Hospital with handmade cards from CEC children. Team members also celebrated this year’s holiday party at PPG Aquarium with food, door prizes, and live animal encounters.
  • St. Louis held a food drive for their local food bank and donated a little over two 55-gallon bins filled with food. They also supplied a struggling team member with Thanksgiving dinners, gift cards, and monetary donations. Additionally, the ribbon-cutting ceremony for their new location was officially held. The event took place in tandem with their Holiday Open House.
  • Toledo collected donation items for Cherry Street Mission, a local homeless shelter and kitchen. The team collected five large garbage bags filled with items. They participated in Toys for Tots and also coordinated with Washington Church to sponsor a local family in need. The office collected many gifts for the three children and even the parents. Lastly, they are planning a volunteer event in January at Cherry Street Mission.
