’Tis the Season: Charitable Activities From Across the CEC Footprint

December 22, 2022

Every holiday season, our team members around the country find ways to come together and give back to their local communities. Below are some highlights of the awesome ways our offices took the time to lend a helping hand this year:

  • Athens packed and delivered gift bags for patients at the local Guthrie Cancer Center. Each reusable bag included a fleece blanket, activity book, pens, pencils, chapstick, and more. Every team member also took the time to write a special message to each recipient.
  • Austin put together funds to donate to Coats for Kids. Coats for Kids is run by The Junior League of Austin. This year, during the 36th Annual Coats for Kids Distribution, the organization gave out 30,000 coats to local children in need. They also gave away their millionth coat.
  • Bridgeport donated money and gifts to the Harrison County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program, doubling their contribution from last year. CASA supports court-appointed volunteers to provide a safe environment to child victims of abuse or neglect. The team is also planning a coat and clothing drive in January.
  • Chicago sponsored and decorated a company tree at the Brookfield Zoo with all handmade ornaments. This event helps raise money for the zoo and is a tradition the office has done for the past six years. Each year, team members and their families enjoy decorating the tree and exploring the zoo.
  • Cincinnati collected presents for a local family through their local Salvation Army Adopt-a-Family program. The team came together to provide several presents for a young boy and girl and got their mother and father gifts and general household items as well. The Cincinnati team enjoys helping a family through the program every year.
  • Greenville donated over 75 toys to its local U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots foundation whose mission is to collect new, unwrapped toys during the fall and winter months to distribute as holiday gifts to children in the community.
  • Monroeville collected holiday donations for two local charities. Coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and mittens were given to the Salvation Army Greensburg Corps for its annual distribution day. The team also gifted a box full of dog and cat food, toys, blankets, and other pet supplies to Pet Friends, Inc., a non-profit, all-volunteer animal rescue organization. A cash donation was also given to each organization.
  • Pittsburgh provided gifts from the wish lists of 80 local children through the Allegheny County Department of Human Services Holiday Project, which provides meaningful gifts to children experiencing maltreatment and homelessness. The group also packed and delivered 80 gift bags filled with presents and personal care items to the Veterans Administration Hospital.
